Online College for Early Learning serves approximately 8,000 children each year and offers a full range of care and play programs. As part of the online-focused education process, there is online and classroom training.

The demand for Early Childhood Education is mounting. According to National Association for the Education of Young Children, parents are searching for ways to enroll their young children in education-based programs, including programs that take place outside of the home.

Early childhood education is a proven method of preparing children for school and for success in life. When an infant or toddler experiences early care and education, they are likely to be more independent and successful in school and life. (Check out more about early education)

A new report of the Early Learning Council shows that an estimated 10 million to 18 million children are enrolled in early care and education programs in the United States and a third of all high school graduates gain an early learning experience in early childhood education.

However, only 19 percent of all 6- and 7-year-olds are in quality programs. Schools for Children and Discovery Institute join forces to set about improving the quality of early learning.

With the help of some major-city mayors, the U.S. Department of Education awarded Early Childhood Funds for Cities to the 29 participating cities. The grant will directly benefit children by increasing access to high-quality, affordable care and services.

The purpose of the grant is to expand access to quality early learning programs in America’s biggest cities. These types of early education programs are recognized to be instrumental in children’s future success in school and in life.

Funding will be applied toward the following areas:

• The redesign of the purchasing process of child care and afterschool for children ages 3–17.

• The expansion of outreach programs and community engagement to promote early childhood education.

• Supporting the reimbursement of child care and educational expenses, including instructional salaries and benefits.

• Guiding public policies and community relations to promote earlier childhood education, child care, and child services.

The Children’s Defense Fund has found that when all children have access to quality preschool programs in the United States, the nation’s graduation rate increases by almost 10 percent and the overall number of high school graduates increases by more than 250,000.

When only the poorest 50 percent of families have access to high-quality early learning programs, in fact, 14 percent of the children will never learn to read, the report states.

Speaking at the Early Childhood Educational Innovation Conference, U.S. Education Secretary Barmack said, “This investment in children will build our country’s economy and competitiveness in the global economy for decades to come.”

A recent book study by Edelman, Edelman Associates, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation revealed that consumers are actually more enthusiastic about leaving the sandbox and entering the schoolhouse than they are about leaving their smartphone and entering the doctor’s office.

The highest level of satisfaction about educational experiences was associated with pre-K education experiences in fourth grade. The highest satisfaction level about other phases of childhood development was in fifth grade.

A Gallup poll found that 92 percent of parents rate good, mostly excellent, or very good as their children’s primary source of pleasure.

A recent announcement by the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children at least two years old should be exposed to “generally accepted” appropriate levels of physical activity. This recommendation notes that low-income children are the most vulnerable, and one of the biggest barriers to high-quality pre-K and healthy lifestyles for children and teens is transportation.

With leading-edge evidence-based programs, and with the support of national funding grants, education standards, policy to support children’s health and education, early childhood education opportunities will increase and quality early childhood education will be available for all America’s children.
