What Learning Theories Are Used In Online Nursing Education

When developing long-term plans to achieve the diploma, nursing programs for all other nations make the same decision: they have to drive the costs up.

In clinical and laboratory settings, nurse practitioners (NPs) are widely recognized as the clinicians closest to patients (and their problems) but the well-defined nature of clinical experience limits their applicability to the acute care setting. While many consider advanced practice nurses (APNs) the superior clinician for intensive care units (ICUs), they are limited to clinical case reporting, assessment, and primary care administration. The current state of Internet-based nursing education thus provides the educational environment that will help alleviate these two major barriers of clinical practice.

The majority of current and future NPs continue their clinical experience by attending their school’s specialized programs or continuing their education. Additionally, there are a few third-party specialty licensure and credentialing programs that continue to offer quality assessment, diploma, licensing, and designation programs (TTIs) to nurses to further their careers.

However, there is an increasing demand for online learning environments as both NPs and APNs struggle to meet the evolving needs of the workplace. The digital delivery model enables NPs to further their education and career success by improving the educational experience while accelerating in the pace of progress for real-time learning and clinical mentoring/mentorship.

In addition, online learning courses and programs provide many benefits to both the student and their immediate employer, with the program-length required for completion. An evaluation of the competency and education level of NPs has been found to be 35 percent less expensive to implement and 30 percent less complex than traditional clinical education programs. Additionally, with the expansion of online learning environments, NPs can earn a real-time college degree from a partner institution without the need to transfer their credits to another institution.

Online Nursing Education

Upon launching online RN-LC program in New York, PatientsFirst selected Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and associate of science degree (ASD) candidates (including a dual membership-approved allied health graduate program). The curriculum for the Nursing Program is designed to offer the best of both (clinical practice and educational) fields of study with emphasis on traditional clinical medicine.

In addition to the curriculum, PatientsFirst provides NPs with ongoing professional development that meets the needs of these evolving healthcare environments. When StudentsFirst first launched this curriculum, the focus was to establish the University Distance Learning Center (DFLC) at this Global Community Hospital as an actual clinical facility. Fast forward two years later, the completion of this project has resulted in now a center that brings the fun and fun of the lecture hall into the ECU Trauma Area of the hospital.

Nursing Education Through an EHR

Being the most effective and proficient is always the goal of an eHealth professional. Being current with the technology powering the healthcare facility makes the patient care delivery process much more efficient and effective. Therefore, in the University Distance Learning Center, home and workplace safety have not become secondary to the delivery of educational content. In fact, Safety is one of the top learning goals of the nurse’s professional ethics. Safety has been optimized by providing driver verification to allow unobstructed access to the EHR to the Medical/Nursing student. Locking the door/locker is not an option. Also, Security is very important and remote access to the medical department is made impossible. This ensures that employees are authorized to gain access to the EHR and to navigate the multitude of external departments.

A Safety Net is in Place for the Patient

In order to make it comfortable and convenient for students to complete their educational assignments, patients are provided with a Toll-Free Emergency Registration number and a Personal Information Shoppe. This seamless process allows the newly earned RN-LC to fulfill additional educational goals of the professional without negatively impacting the safety of the patient. Since critical healthcare infrastructure is in close proximity to the location of learning, the patient is able to access this most recent content in an environment that is easily accessible. Students completing patient-care related courses are able to complete their assignments without interruptions or delays associated with the study environment.
