Amazon has officially dropped its price for the Echo Dot from $50 to $25. Here’s how to get yours.
amazon announced the Echo Dot’s price is $5 after a $20 “grandfathering discount” promotion kicked off Friday October 5th. The company is thanking customers for “going to those stairs for you” with the “free personalization upgrade you haven’t had before”, according to the company’s promotional page. Echo Dot is sold at full price, $49.99, with Amazon Prime memberships for $79.99.
Willie, homejoy’s Human Robot, is part of the rollout, which we’re told includes families and friends.
Homejoy is offering free human robots to any customer who is willing to pay $5 to get them on house calls. Here’s a video from gizmodo where an Echo Dot falls out of a purse. As you’ll see, Homejoy’s company man, Willie, opens up. Oh yes, you can call Willie at Homejoy.
In addition to the being free for customers to call on Willie, Amazon also is offering the lower price to users who log onto the Amazon Prime Music app, or via the web page before October 31st. Still, customers who don’t own a Fire HD 10 tablet can also get the Echo Dot for free if they activate the app by October 31st.
