Portland Community College is turning to the crowdfunding community to fund a proposal that would use on-line learning for underserved students, empowering them to build knowledge for college and careers, in a pay-to-use model.
How To Get Your Passcode Paying for Edu Online Learning To break even, the proposal, called “Passcode for Edu,” will need support from at least 650 pre-orders.
The plan is simple: Portland Community College will encourage classes to use a digital payment model, where all participants, from students to teachers, agree to pay for content after using it in class. If the class reaches a fundraising goal, they’ll share that funding with the class, funding the next semester’s class costs. There’s also a sub-crowdfunding plan for individual teachers, where, after agreeing to learn a lesson using the class content, they can make a contribution to help teach the lesson in the next semester.
