You’re with family for Thanksgiving. The topic of the evening naturally sparks off conversation about how to increase your income. If you’re a member of the couple, your conversation quickly spirals into matters like how to improve your dating profile, what she wants to be doing in her job and how he would change his habits in order to join her.

What you’re probably not saying is that you want to go online for help on how to change your life for the better. Well, maybe you are, but you don’t necessarily know how. Chances are if you’re at dinner with family this evening, you’re probably talking about your dreams but you don’t know where to begin.

The reality is many of us are stuck with a failed resolution. Like you, our dreams are sagging along with our finances. We think we need a bit of a change but we haven’t exactly figured out the right way to start. Now, I know you don’t want me to start calling you a procrastinator for thinking about your career in the evening while sitting around the dinner table. But, if you don’t start exploring options for your financial and/or career in a couple of weeks, it might be too late.

It is important to know that how to enter this world of online education is an important topic. There are several resources and options for you to explore. Of course, the first step is not to wait till the dinner table. A lot of us are just not in a good place to even think about starting a degree program. It can be intimidating, but that doesn’t mean you can’t. By now you probably have some ideas about what you want to do and you’re curious.

The easiest way to get started is to take a few classes online. There are many ways to get started and there are obviously lots of options. Whether you are an educator, a journalist, a consultant, a photographer, a gamer, an entrepreneur, a tutor, a small business owner, or a stay-at-home mom, learning is a great way to earn a paycheck and start an income. Whether you take the time to attend a live class or a live streaming class, there are great ideas to choose from online.

Classes are available at all different price points. If you want a certain program, you can do that. If you want to attend a class, most campuses offer free classes through their online store. Some of them also offer live lessons so if you want to learn more about your finances or gain new skills in your field, you have some choices. What I do recommend is that you make the move forward slowly. Create a budget and start small. Perhaps, go to a class and see how it goes for a couple of weeks. Forcing yourself to stay in the online world for an entire year when you really want to go to campus for a formal or occasional class makes it difficult to get your confidence and your head into this new way of working. You might want to take a class for the month. Maybe you do that. When you do it, remember that you are creating a book of experiences. You can test the waters of an online learning program by joining some of the many online and live learning programs at cheap prices. For example, there are three schools in one of the U.S. cities I mentioned earlier. U.S. News and World Report is one of the leading sources for reputation rankings. This is an excellent way to start as I discussed on POPSUGAR Pro today.

Eventually, as you gain confidence and it becomes clearer that you can learn and earn an income at the same time, you may want to consider a degree program. Depending on your field, an online degree may be the perfect fit. This is the path you take from online to physical campus. Universities are competing for students and most of them have online degree programs. It is all a matter of preparation and I’ll try to help you. It’s up to you to develop your passion for learning and to build a plan to make it happen.
