Laptops are a great gift, but how do you buy one if you don’t have a plan to use your points? Here’s how you can get a laptop online, with some different points methods to get an entry-level model without the sticker shock.

As of today, Acer is offering up some extremely affordable laptops that have extremely good specs for the point per point you can get. The 15.6-inch Lenovo Y50W is a decent deal when you consider that it’s about the size of a wallet and has all the basics you’d expect. On the other hand, HP’s gaming laptop HP G6-4101SA may seem far out there, but there are a lot of interesting features to factor in such as G6 Aura illumination (which just happens to look cool) and their exclusive speakers made of wood.

There are definitely decent deals to be had across a lot of the available laptops, so I recommend looking at the different stores before going to get yours to see what you can score.

This offers a very good deal as far as entry-level laptop/points goes. $399 is actually really a great deal, especially if you want a notebook that has a decent laptop features for the points. The Acer Aspire V 15 is another great entry-level offer that lets you score $10 in bonus points if you spend $50. With AMD graphics, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Windows 10 Home, this is a really solid laptop. You can find it on Amazon, where the price is $400 or the price is $399 if you have signed up for Amazon Prime (more on that below).

If you prefer a slightly faster model, such as the 13.3-inch Acer Predator X34-3112, then you can find it for $449 if you buy on Best Buy. It has a high definition display, AMD 13th-gen Core i7-8750H 4-core CPU, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 8GB GDDR5 graphics, and Gigabit Wi-Fi. It also offers 2TB of hard drive storage. Read more about the available bonus options to get a better discount (if you have the intent to use the bonus points).

The HP G6 is a really interesting price-point laptop. Priced between $450 and $500 depending on store and time of year, it varies. Starting at $450, it has a Quad HD (3200 x 1800) IPS touchscreen display, a powerful Intel Core i5-8265G processor, Nvidia GeForce MX150 8GB GDDR5 graphics, 32GB DDR4 of RAM, and 1TB hard drive storage.

It may seem far-out, but HP’s new models, such as the HP Omen Quad Edition model, offer several ways to customize. The price varies greatly depending on the site of choice for price, but the prices in my sample vary from $1,000 to $2,000, or about 30% to 60% off list price. Looking at My Best Buy’s price chart shows a wider price range, but the 25% off option is still useful for those who want a brand new model and a little coloration. This is especially true when you’re looking at the AMD Radeon RX Vega M1000M that has a 32GB (2GB x8) VRAM.

You can save on this ultrabook by avoiding Best Buy, instead shopping from another store for a high-end price. The Huawei MateBook X Pro is another affordable laptop that has great specs. It has a 15.6-inch LCD, 8th-gen Intel Core i7-8705G Core i processor, Nvidia GeForce MX150 8GB GDDR5, 32GB (2GB x8) DDR4 of RAM, 1TB hard drive storage, 4K Ultra HD screen, and fingerprint reader for security.
